Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County TN, Inc. is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry.  Began in 1993 and chartered in 1994, the first year was spent in organizing and fund-raising efforts.  In 1995, the first house was built on Long Hollow Pike in Gallatin and was completed for Christmas.  Since then 26 houses have been completed and families moved in.

We are starting a new house at 631 Center Street in Gallatin!

The Sumner County Habitat for Humanity ReStore provides a unique shopping experience. Essentially a resale store, the ReStore carries donated and surplus building materials such as hardware, lumber, plumbing and light fixtures, paint and windows.

How does Habitat for Humanity work?
Habitat for Humanity is not a charity or give-away program. Habitat For Humanity builds houses with Sumner County families in need.  Volunteer labor is used to build houses to keep building costs low for Habitat families.  Families make a small down payment on their homes and pay a monthly no-interest mortgage payment.  In addition, families contribute up to 500 hours of "sweat equity" in building their home.  Please see our "FAQs" page for more details.

How can I get a Habitat home?
Please see our "How to Qualify" page for information on the requirements for becoming a Habitat homeowner and an explanation of the application process.

How can I help?
Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County is always looking for people who can devote time and effort to helping those who are in need.  All kinds of jobs are available -- everything from working on a construction site to serving on a committee.

Cash contributions and donations of land and building materials are also greatly appreciated.

Please see our "Become Involved" page for more information.
